Now that we are starting to wrap up the current school year and look ahead to the next, Jane will lead a discussion and offer suggestions to school administrators about staff development - how to plan for and optimally utilize staff/team meeting times and promote a culture of change, appreciation and development. She can also offer her perspective on any challenges you might be facing as a leader in your school community.

“Re-thinking Supplies for the next school year” with Robin Koo

ROBIN will lead a discussion focused on re-thinking the kinds of decorative, art, and craft supplies schools will need to order for the new school year. She can offer suggestions on what types of supplies schools should consider ordering in order to boost students’ symbolic development and to enhance the school and classroom environments.

“Beyond Spring planting and Fall leaves: Nature’s year-round presence in the classroom” with Alanna Pan

ALANNA will lead a discussion focused on how nature can play an on-going role in the classroom, beyond the typical nature-centric activities. She can offer suggestions on how to re-think classroom areas and learning themes to include more of the natural world, and help educators re-evaluate what they’ve been doing already.

JENNIFER will lead a discussion focused on what literacy looks like in a 2s and 3s classroom. Incorporating literacy into everyday learning for very young children, in ways that are meaningful and developmentally appropriate, is not an easy task, especially in the current educational climate. Jennifer can offer suggestions and examples, and help educators re-evaluate their environment and activities.

“Supporting Children with Sensory Integration Challenges”

COLLEEN will lead a discussion focused on children with sensory integration challenges. She will define what that means, and then share ideas on how the environment and classroom materials can play a role in supporting all types of learners.

“Documentation Display Support” with Robin Koo

Thursday, March 10th, 3:00 – 4:00pm

ROBIN will lead a discussion focused on documentation displays. Utilizing the videocamera for this discussion, participants can show their documentation displays (or loose documentation components) for feedback. Robin can offer suggestions on how to make the display of children’s learning highly visible, interactive, accessible, and clear, as well as show examples of documentation displays at Beginnings Nursery School to highlight features to consider when putting together a documentation board.
