““Mid-Year Shift: Re-thinking the Art Center in the Classroom””
with Robin Koo

Sunday, Jan. 21st from 11:00AM - 1:00PM
The Materials Center
197 East Broadway, Studio A

It’s late-January, marking the middle of the school year, and you and your students may be feeling likes it's time for a change in classroom art experiences. But what kinds of change should you make and how does one go about making environmental and pedagogical shifts? Which tools, materials, and art techniques are developmentally appropriate, and what are some ways that they can be introduced? And how does reflection and documentation of children’s art experiences further curriculum investigations and children’s symbolic and social development?

Drawing upon her experiences as Studio Teacher at Beginnings Nursery School and Coordinator of The Materials Center, Robin Koo will offer participants an overview of artistic development in children ages 2 through 6 years of age, and share ideas and strategies of how to set up art areas and materials in order to support fluency in the visual arts languages. She will also share how documentation and reflection plays a role in children's experiences and social development.

10lbs of materials from The Materials Center included with registration fee.
