Andrew Hauner is an early childhood educator and artist–researcher currently teaching at Beginnings Nursery School and organizing the Collaborative for Early Childhood Representation. He has worked with children, families and teachers across educational contexts in New York City, including the Brooklyn Public Library, Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Bellevue Hospital, Blue School, and P.S. 10K. He has facilitated his early learning workshops and interactive presentations at the Art of Play & Wonderment Conference, the College Art Association, UC Santa Barbara and CUNY’s College of Staten Island. His arts-based research into creativity and education has been exhibited internationally and published in books and journals like Innovations in Early Education: The International Reggio Emilia Exchange. He is interested in the Reggio Emilia Approach as a way of making visible his teacher subjectivity and cultural lens and of representing the creativity of early learning in his hometown of NYC.
